Welcome to a special bonus viewing of an episode of Johnny Red.

The aim is to give readers (old and new) the full taste of the excitement and great art this series provided. I do not intend to breach copyright and merely hope to engender an appreciation of and interest in this excellent story - perhaps leading to a proper graphic novel reprint. This page consists of 4 very large pics, and as such could take a goodly while to download. Make a cup of tea why not ?

This episode is from the 02 July 1977 issue. Script was by Tom Tully, art by the incomparable Joe Colquhoun (later to work with Pat Mills on the magnum opus that is 'Charley's War').

To set the scene, 19 year old Johnny 'Red' Redburn has ben unjustly discharged from the RAF for accidentally killing a superior officer. He ends up in Russia ( I won't got into how here !) and is fighting with the 'Falcons', a Russian Fighter-bomber squadron. "Heading South towards Leningrad, the Squadron runs into heavy flak from the German batteries that encircle the besieged city, and....."
